We can feel the rapid flow of information circulating in society along with advances in technology and information in this modern era. All of this is possible because of the comfort and convenience that technology offers in helping humans. The convenience of this technology has positive and negative impacts, like a coin that has two sides. Therefore, we must be able to differentiate between positive and negative information. The positive aspects must be increased, while the negative aspects must be reduced or even eliminated. The general public should be reminded of the importance of understanding social media ethics and developing “thoughtful social media” practices. Use social media responsibly to avoid hurting others, spreading false information, encouraging others and threatening violence. It also needs to be understood that when giving advice or expressing opinions on social media, you must adhere to appropriate ethical and legal guidelines, so as not to be caught in Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions.
